Tillamook Cheese and Ice Cream

July 31, 2019

Slowly left Newport yesterday morning and worked our way up the curvy, scenic highway to stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory. We observed the way the cheese is made from milk to packaging. (Minus the aging process, lol) It was a self-guided tour but was still interesting to watch the workers in their specific roles, and to read the fun facts of the numbers involved in creating the large batches. The assembly line of the blocks of cheese moves faster than I expected. Of course we went through the sample line and tried the variety that was available for that day. Then it was over to the long line to get an ice cream cone. I would recommend this stop if you are in the area. Afterwards it was time to load up and move on.

Now early evening, and no spot reserved for the night, we were looking for a pull-out along the Coastal Highway to sleep in overnight. None available, so looking in Good Sam app we found a nice RV park with mostly grass spaces, not too far away. This was near Seaside, OR. and I got some good rest to prepare for the next day. We went into town this morning for breakfast and we decided on Pig N Pancake After breakfast it was on to the beach area to take a couple more pictures. We were able to see Haystack Rock and Tillamook Rock lighthouse from where we stopped.
